Nasarawa Governor Swears In New LG Chairmen

Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule, has called on the newly elected Chairmen of the state’s 13 Local Government Areas to prioritize transparency and accountability in their roles. The chairmen, all from the All Progressives Congress, won in last Saturday’s local government elections held statewide.

During their swearing-in ceremony in Lafia on Monday, Sule urged the new leaders to focus on implementing projects and initiatives that would positively impact the lives of residents at the grassroots level. He praised the election process as one of the most transparent and peaceful in the state’s history.

Governor Sule also expressed gratitude to traditional rulers, political leaders, other stakeholders, and the general public for their presence at the ceremony.

Sule said, “You are to embrace transparency, accountability, probity, and above all, prudence in the management of public resources. I want to congratulate you, the elected chairmen, and 147 councilors for your emergence.

“Your emergence is a reflection of the confidence that the electorate have reposed in you. I call on you to justify this confidence by improving the fortunes of your respective local government areas.”

Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State has urged the newly elected local government chairmen to foster peace and unity within their respective areas. He also commended security agencies for ensuring a peaceful election process.

The Secretary to the State Government, Muhammad Aliyu, highlighted that the All Progressives Congress (APC) won all 13 chairmanship positions in the elections conducted by the State Independent Electoral Commission on Saturday. Aliyu also lauded Governor Sule’s dedication to upholding democracy through local government elections.

Representing the chairmen, Lafia LGA Chairman Mohammed Haliru expressed gratitude to the governor, stakeholders, and residents for their trust, pledging dedicated service over the next three years.

The newly sworn-in chairmen include Hon. Safiyanu Isah Andaha (Akwanga), Hon. Umar Abubakar Dan’ Akano (Awe), Hon. Jonathan Okuba Addra (Doma), Barr. Abubakar Aliyu Madaki (Karu), Hon. Adamu Aboki Usman (Keana), Hon. Dr. Idris Ahmed Danmagani (Keffi), Hon. Agbawu Mek Agbawu (Kokona), Hon. Mohammed Arabo Haliru (Lafia), Hon. Mohammed Hassan Ahmed (Nasarawa), Barr. Iliya Ibn Aliyu (Nasarawa Eggon), Hon. Mohammed Isa KK (Obi), Pharm. Ahmed Baba Yahaya (Toto), and Hon. Ezekiel Musa Jagga (Wamba).

The ceremony was attended by prominent figures including Deputy Governor Dr. Emmanuel Akabe, House Speaker Rt. Hon. Danladi Jatau, Chief Judge Aisha Bashir Aliyu, Senator Abdullahi Adamu, Senator Umaru Tanko Al-Makura, and Emir of Lafia Justice Sidi Bage Muhammad.
