LG Election: APC wins all chairmanship seats in Nasarawa

The ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) in Nasarawa state has sweep all the 13 chairmanship positions and won 140  Councillorship seats in the just concluded Saturday Local Government elections in the state.

Declaring the results of yhe elections at the headquarters of the Nasarawa State Independent Electoral Commission (NASIE) yesterday in Lafia,amId water tight security, the chairman, Barr. Ayuba Usman Wandai, said, that the chairmanship candidates of the All Progressive Congress (APC) also won 140 Councillorship Seats, while Social Democratic Party (SDP) won five and Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) won two councillorships respectively.

According to him, the candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC), winners in the chairmanship  positions as follows; Lafia (217573), Doma (70545), Keana (35094), Awe (59206), Obi (93486), Keffi (74419), Kokona (53057), Akwanga (82075), Toto (43792), Karu (146450), Wamba (39377), Nasarawa (96358) and Nasarawa-Eggon (94497).

He, however, explained that the exercise was entirely peaceful, expressing profound appreciation to the voting public for unwavering resolve towards entrenching democracy at the grassroots level.

He said that the participation of 14 political parties in the electoral process underscored the confidence of the parties in the election, noting that the use of technology had further made the process seamless and efficient.

Giving details of the result, the NASIEC boss said Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) won two councillorship seats in Doma while the Social Democratic Party (SDP) secured four councillorship seats in Nasarawa-Eggon and one councillorship seat in Keffi local government.

He further announced that the party alao won 140 out the 147 electoral wards of the state, while Social Democratic Party (SDP) won five councillorship seats  and Zenith Labor Party (ZLP) wion two councilor seat respectively.

Describing the election as free, fair and credible, the NASIEC boss, commended the people of the state for the peaceful conduct during the election.

The chairman also lauded critical stakeholders, security, observer groups and the media for for their various contribution towards the success of the election.

In a related development, governor Sule is to swear in the newly elected council chairmen tomorrow (Monday), at the Government House in Lafia on Monday.

A statement issued by the Secretary to the Government of Nasarawa State, Barr Muhammad Ubandoma Aliyu on Sunday, said “Governor Sule will perform the swearing in ceremony by 8.30 am on Monday at the late Aliyu Akwe Doma Banquet Hall in Government House Lafia”
