Bobrisky Offloaded from Amsterdam-Bound KLM Flight

Social media personality Okuneye Idris, popularly known as Bobrisky, was detained by immigration officers and removed from a KLM flight bound for Amsterdam late Thursday night. Bobrisky, a well-known cross-dresser, took to Instagram to inform his followers of the incident, claiming he was injured during an altercation with the officers.

He attributed his detention to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), writing, “Nigerians help me, EFCC just arrested me. I’m badly injured.”

On October 22, Bobrisky was reportedly intercepted at the Sème border amid allegations of attempting to flee Nigeria. His legal troubles began in April 2024 when the Federal High Court in Lagos sentenced him to six months in prison for naira abuse.

Although initially held at Kirikiri Prison, reports surfaced that Bobrisky spent only three weeks there before being discreetly transferred to a private location. This alleged preferential treatment led to speculation of a ₦15 million bribe facilitating his early release.

The controversy intensified in September 2024 when social media influencer VeryDarkMan released an audio clip purportedly featuring Bobrisky. In the clip, Bobrisky allegedly claimed that music artist Falz and his father, human rights lawyer Femi Falana, approached him during his imprisonment, seeking ₦10 million to secure a presidential pardon.

In response, Falana and Falz issued a cease-and-desist letter on October 16, 2024, demanding a retraction and public apology for what they described as defamatory remarks. Bobrisky, however, denied the allegations, asserting he had no involvement with the leaked recording and suggesting that the Falanas hold VeryDarkMan accountable instead.
