The Senate has begun screening the seven newly nominated ministers following a recent cabinet reshuffle by President Bola Tinubu. The nominees under review include:
- Dr. Nentawe Yilwatda as Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction
- Muhammadu Dingyadi as Minister of Labour and Employment
- Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu as Minister of State, Foreign Affairs
- Dr. Jumoke Oduwole as Minister of Industry, Trade, and Development
- Idi Muktar Maiha as Minister of Livestock Development
- Rt. Hon. Yusuf Ata as Minister of State, Housing
- Dr. Suwaiba Said Ahmad as Minister of State, Education
At 12:57 pm on Wednesday, the Senate leader, Opeyemi Bamidele, moved a motion to suspend standard Senate rules, allowing the Special Adviser to the President on Senate matters, Basheer Lado, to bring the nominees into the plenary session. Senate President Godswill Akpabio had previously read President Tinubu’s letter announcing the new ministerial nominations.
This reshuffle includes the recent dismissal of five ministers: Uju-Ken Ohanenye (Women Affairs), Lola Ade-John (Tourism), Prof. Tahir Mamman (Education), Abdullahi Muhammad Gwarzo (State for Housing and Urban Development), and Dr. Jamila Bio Ibrahim (Youth Development).
