Alex Ikwechegh, a lawmaker recently filmed assaulting a cab driver, has been referred to the House Ethics Committee for investigation. The referral followed a point of order raised by Majority Leader Julius Ihonvbere on Tuesday.
The viral video shows Ikwechegh threatening to make Bolt driver Stephen Abuwatseya “disappear.” Public backlash has been swift, with widespread condemnation, including from Ohanaeze Ndigbo.
As scrutiny mounts, Ikwechegh could face suspension if the committee’s investigation finds him at fault.
