Award-winning Afrobeats artist Burna Boy recently shared reflections on his journey to success, expressing pride in his achievements and explaining his choice not to look down on others.
In an Instagram Story, the Nigerian superstar delivered a powerful message about his path to wealth, recounting how, in his younger years, wealth seemed reserved for politicians, oil magnates, or “Yahoo boys”—a term for online fraudsters.
Growing up in Port Harcourt, Burna Boy came from modest beginnings. Now, he says he surpasses 90% of the individuals he once viewed as “moneymakers.” He used this insight to inspire his fans, encouraging them to recognize everyone’s potential for growth and success.
“Imagine growing up and only politicians and oil men were the ones really getting REAL money followed by the G boys. Music was not even in the conversation when money was the Topic.
“Now, an ugly black musician from Port Harcourt got more money than 90% of the people he looked up to as moneymakers. This is why I never count any you h people out, because they could be Elon Musk 2moro typing this same message,” he wrote.
