Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has expressed concerns ahead of their crucial Premier League clash against Liverpool at the Emirates on Sunday.
Key defender William Saliba will miss the match after receiving a red card in the 25th minute during Arsenal’s defeat to Bournemouth, marking their first loss of the 2024/2025 Premier League season.
Following Arsenal’s narrow 1-0 victory over Shakhtar Donetsk on Tuesday night, Arteta confirmed that recent signing Riccardo Calafiori picked up a knee injury in the second half, forcing him to be substituted by Myles Lewis-Skelly.
Additionally, Arteta revealed that Bukayo Saka has yet to return to training, adding to the squad’s injury concerns ahead of the Liverpool game.
He said: “[Bukayo] Saka is not training yet, so he won’t be available, and Ricci [Calafiori] felt something and could not stay on. Bit of a worry.”
Arsenal will also be without captain Martin Ødegaard and Jurrien Timber, both of whom are still struggling for fitness ahead of Liverpool’s visit.
Arsenal have accumulated seven points from their opening three Champions League matches.
