Wigwe’s Father Denies Family Dispute Over Estate

The family of Pastor Shyngle Wigwe has responded to recent media reports alleging a family feud over the estate of the late banking executive, Herbert Wigwe. In a statement released by Emeka Wigwe on behalf of the family, they firmly denied claims that Pastor Shyngle Wigwe had requested 20% of Herbert Wigwe’s estate, as suggested in an article published on October 13, 2024, which has since gone viral.
The family emphasized that the allegations in the report are entirely false and misleading, asserting that no such demands have been made by Pastor Shyngle Wigwe or any other family members. “At no point has Pastor Shyngle Wigwe requested 20% of the estate of the late Herbert Wigwe. Neither has there been any such request by other family members,” the statement reads.
The family further clarified that the facts regarding the estate are publicly available in the Probate Registry, where an affidavit clearly outlines the correct details. They expressed disappointment in the media’s failure to verify the information before publishing the report, noting that a simple search by reporters would have revealed the truth.
“We recognize the role of the press in sharing news, but such reports must be based on truth and accuracy,” the family stated, urging the media to correct the inaccuracies in the story.
Amid the ongoing grief over Herbert Wigwe’s passing, the family stressed that they remain united and are focusing on healing together. They expressed no desire to engage in public defense, as there is no internal conflict. “The only truth is that we are navigating this immense loss and will continue to do so with dignity,” the statement said.
Herbert Wigwe, a visionary leader who transformed Access Bank into one of Nigeria’s most successful financial institutions, left a lasting legacy through his contributions to banking and philanthropy, including his work with The HOW Foundation, which focused on education and healthcare initiatives.
The family urged the public and the media to focus on celebrating Herbert Wigwe’s life and achievements rather than indulging in unfounded speculation about his estate.
