The Imo State Commissioner of Police, CP Aboki Danjuma, has ordered the immediate arrest of several police officers who were caught on video extorting money from commercial drivers.
The video, which went viral on social media, sparked outrage from the public, showing the officers allegedly engaging in corrupt practices while on duty. In response to the public backlash, the state’s police command moved swiftly to address the situation.
The Imo State Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Henry Okoye, in a post on X, said the Commissioner of Police condemned the actions of the officers involved, stating that such behaviour is not reflective of the core values of the Nigerian Police Force.
He said the Commissioner ” has ordered the immediate arrest of the officer and the team seen in the video. He has also directed the Command COmplaint Response Unit and Provost Department to ensure the officers receive the maximum punishment.’
