In an effort to ease the hardship faced by citizens, Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, has donated ₦50,000 each to 1,000 less-privileged women in Nasarawa State.
Speaking during the presentation at the Government House in Lafia on Thursday, Mrs. Tinubu emphasized that the initiative was designed to alleviate the struggles of women in the state.
Represented by Silifat Abdullahi-Sule, the Wife of Nasarawa State Governor Abdullahi Sule, Mrs. Tinubu explained that the beneficiaries were selected from rural communities across all 13 Local Government Areas of the state.
She said, “Senator Oluremi Tinubu gave us N50,000 for each of the 1,000 of you. The empowerment is particularly for women at the grassroots. It aims to alleviate the suffering of less-privileged women and to boost their economic activities in rural areas.
“The women living in the urban areas are not part of this empowerment programme. As I speak now, the gesture is simultaneously going on across the country.”
She urged the beneficiaries to make wise use of the money to improve their lives and justify Mrs. Tinubu’s efforts.
One of the beneficiaries, Hanatu Luka from Obi LGA, expressed her gratitude after receiving the ₦50,000, thanking Mrs. Tinubu for her generosity. She stated that the funds would not only bring joy to their lives but also significantly boost their economic activities.
Our correspondent noted that in June, Mrs. Tinubu also distributed food items worth millions of Naira to over 1,200 Internally Displaced Persons, People Living with Disabilities, and other vulnerable residents of Nasarawa State to combat hunger.
