Woman Stabs Neighbor’s Son to Death in Lagos

A 19-year-old woman, Fatimo Agboke, has been accused of fatally stabbing her neighbor’s 20-year-old son, Faroul Azeez, during a confrontation in the Ijegun area of Lagos State. The tragic incident reportedly occurred at around 9:20 p.m. on September 9, 2024.

The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the incident, stating that the altercation escalated when Agboke allegedly grabbed a broken bottle and stabbed Azeez in the neck. Efforts to rush Azeez to the hospital for treatment proved unsuccessful, as he sadly passed away en route.

The case is currently under investigation by the Lagos State Police Command.

Hundeyin stated, “On September 9, 2024, a complaint was received from the Ijegun area of the state, reported at Isheri-Oshun Division by a man that a neighbor argued with his son.

“The victim was stabbed with a broken bottle on his neck by Agboke, which caused him grievous bodily harm. He gave up the ghost during an attempt to rush to a hospital for medical attention.

“The division raced to the scene where the lifeless body of the deceased was seen on the ground, facing up in a pool of blood with a deep cut on his neck. The corpse has been removed and deposited at Mainland General Hospital in Yaba for autopsy.”

Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed that 19-year-old Fatimo Agboke had been arrested and detained following the fatal stabbing of her neighbor, Faroul Azeez, during a confrontation in Ijegun. He added that a thorough investigation is underway to uncover the full circumstances surrounding the incident.

This recent tragedy echoes a similar incident reported in February 2024, where a middle-aged woman, Cynthia Aigbondon, fatally stabbed her neighbor, identified only as Barakat, in Ajegunle, Lagos State. Aigbondon was also arrested and detained by the Lagos State Police Command, underscoring the alarming rise in violent confrontations within the state.
