Tinubu’s Spokesman, Ajuri Ngelale, Steps Down

Ajuri Ngelale, Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Media and Publicity, has taken an indefinite leave from his official duties to focus on urgent family health matters.

In a statement released to the press on Saturday, Ngelale explained that the decision, although difficult, was necessary to address a worsening medical issue affecting his immediate family.

“On Friday, I officially notified the Chief of Staff of my decision to take an indefinite leave of absence to deal directly with the pressing medical concerns within my nuclear family,” Ngelale said.

Recognizing the impact of his temporary departure, Ngelale expressed regret but emphasized the importance of prioritizing his family’s health.

“While I understand that the demands of governance cannot wait, this painful decision — stepping away from my roles as Special Adviser, Official Spokesperson, Special Presidential Envoy on Climate Action, and Chairman of the Presidential Steering Committee on Project Evergreen — was made after considerable reflection and consultations with my family.”

Ngelale added that he hopes to return to his national duties once circumstances permit, concluding by asking for privacy during this challenging time.
