Botched transfer: Sack your agent, ex-Eagles star tells Osimhen

Former Super Eagles striker Brown Ideye has blamed Victor Osimhen’s agent, Roberto Calenda, for the inability to the Napoli forward to secure a transfer away from the club this summer.

Osimhen has been left frustrated after proposed moves to PSG, Chelsea, Al Ahli of Saudi Arabia fell through.

However, Ideye said it is clear Osimhen and his agent are not on the same page, suggesting that the Eagles forward should do away with Calenda.

“When I had this issue at West Brom, I had to sack my agent to get another deal with Olympiacos because I felt we were not on the same page,” the 2013 AFCON champion told Official 54fx. “

“The agent (Calenda) has some explanations to do to Victor.”

He continued: ”If Osimhen doesn’t make a transfer this summer, his value will drop because he will have to play with the reserve team, and there is no club that will pay 100 Million Euros (even if he eventually gets a club).

”If I were in Osimhen’s shoes, I would not have gone to Chelsea, I would have stayed for the money because money secures my family and life.

“Victor is no longer playing to make the name for himself.

”The mistake Osimhen and his agent made was accepting that renewal after winning the Scudetto (with Napoli)”

”Napoli will punish Osimhen now.

“These young players need to speak to people that can give them advice.

”I don’t have the power to tell Victor what to do, but his agent should take the stick”.

Ideye also maintained that Osimhen ought to have tendered a public apology to former Super Eagles coach Finidi George after a social media rant that went viral.

“I felt he should have actually apologised to Finidi publicly because he insulted him publicly, but people react to things differently, not everybody can have the mind to come out and apologise publicly,” he said.

”We need Nigerians to support him, that boy is not okay. He needs Nigerians around him.
