The Kebbi State Governor, Comrade Nasiru Idris has expressed optimism that All Progressive Congress (APC), will return victorious at the state local government polls assures support for councils autonomy.
Gov Idris who also commended the electoral for their massive turnout during council polls held on Saturday across the state.
“This informed their interests by turning out under peaceful , transparent and credible atmosphere provided by the State Electoral Commission (KESIEC)”.
Governor Idris said shortly after casting his vote at the Nagari College polling unit 007, Makerar Gwandu ward in the state capital.
He was impressed by the conduct of voters , said APC has set a track record under his administration which will guarantee it victory at the polls.
He noted that this was the second election conducted during his administration as a result of the inconclusive elections in Arewa/Dandi, while in Shanga/Yauri federal constituencies a fresh election was conducted following the appointment of Honourable Dr. Yusuf Tanko -Sununu as state Minister of Education, my party APC won all the two electrons.
The governor who also emphasized the significance of LG administration to development said in spite of the challenges being faced by the third tier of government councils in the state were able to drive the execution of projects desirable to their respective communities.
While described as a welcome development the autonomy granted to LGs by the Supreme Court verdict.
“I agree with the Court verdict. I am never opposed to it as a labour leader”, he stated
He expressed confidence that his party’s candidates would win the local government elections, citing his administration’s achievements and commitment to democracy.
