A boat accident occurred on Saturday in the Zindiwa River, located in the Gamawa Local Government Area of Bauchi State.
According to the African Independent Television, the accident left three people missing, while seven others were rescued.
Eyewitnesses reported that the boat, which was carrying 10 passengers, capsized around 4 pm while attempting to cross the river. The boat was being used as an alternative mode of transportation due to flooding that had cut off the main road, leaving residents dependent on boats to reach their destinations.
A rescue team from a nearby village responded quickly, managing to save seven passengers. However, the search is still ongoing for the three individuals who remain unaccounted for.
The cause of the accident is still unclear, but some eyewitnesses suspect that overloading may have contributed to the tragedy.
