The Akwa Ibom Commissioner of Police, Waheed Ayilara, has passed away.
Reports indicate that Ayilara died early Thursday at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) in Ikeja.
Family sources informed The Nation that he underwent prostate cancer surgery on Wednesday and died just hours afterward.
”We are very sad to inform you that our friend, brother and family, the Commissioner of Police for Akwa Ibom State, Waheed Ayilara is dead,” the family member said.
