Burna Boy Sparks Debate by Stepping on Naira Notes While Dancing in Nightclub

Prominent musician Burna Boy has stirred controversy following a video that surfaced showing him at a Lagos nightclub, Hot Box, with socialite Yhemolee and others.

In the video, the Grammy-winning artist is seen dancing energetically to various songs, including “Higher” and “Tshwala Bam remix.”

However, the footage has sparked backlash due to Burna Boy stepping on Naira notes, an act considered a violation of Nigerian currency regulations.

According to Nigerian law, the Central Bank of Nigeria strictly prohibits actions such as spraying, dancing on, or stepping on Naira or any other banknote.

Those found violating this regulation can face a minimum of six months imprisonment, a 50,000 Naira fine, or both.
