Real Madrid midfielder Jude Bellingham is set to miss upcoming matches after sustaining a calf injury during Friday’s training session.
The club confirmed the news in a statement on their website titled “Bellingham Medical Report.”
“Following tests carried out today on Jude Bellingham by Real Madrid’s medical team, the player has been diagnosed with an injury to the plantaris muscle in his right leg. His progress will be monitored,” the statement read.
Bellingham will miss La Liga matches against Real Valladolid, Las Palmas, and Real Betis, as well as England’s Nations League games against the Republic of Ireland and Finland in September.
“Bellingham took a knock, and we’re evaluating it,” Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti told a press conference earlier on Friday.
The midfielder played a crucial role for Real Madrid last season, helping the team secure both the Champions League and La Liga titles. However, multiple reports suggest that Bellingham could be sidelined for about a month due to his recent calf injury.
Jude Bellingham, born in 2003, began his football career at Birmingham City, where he made history as the club’s youngest first-team player. In 2020, he moved to Borussia Dortmund and quickly established himself as one of Europe’s top midfield talents.
His impressive performances led to a high-profile transfer to Real Madrid in 2023, making him one of the most expensive British players. Bellingham is also a key player for the England national team, having represented his country in major tournaments such as the UEFA European Championship and the FIFA World Cup.
