Police Nab Two Armed Suspects in Edo

The Edo State Police Command has apprehended two men found in possession of a firearm during a routine stop-and-search operation in Benin City.

In a statement posted on X on Thursday, the command identified the suspects as 34-year-old Collins Evbayiro and 35-year-old O. Nagbagbonmuna. They were arrested by officers from the Ugbekun Division along Upper Sakponba Road.

The suspects were discovered with a locally fabricated cut-to-size double-barrel shotgun and two live cartridges, which were hidden inside their Toyota Yaris, bearing the registration number BEN 777 XE.

“Officers of Ugbekun Division, while on stop-and-search along Upper Sakponba, arrested Collins Evbayiro, 34, and O. Nagbagbonmuna, 35, in possession of a locally made cut-to-size double-barrel gun with two live cartridges, in a Toyota Yaris car, registration number BEN 777 XE,” the Edo State Police Command said.

The police have confirmed that an investigation into the incident is ongoing to determine the suspects’ intentions and any potential connections to criminal activities.
