The National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) has granted accreditation to 17 academic programmes at the Federal Polytechnic Kabo in Kano State. The milestone, achieved on Friday, August 16, 2024, underscores the Polytechnic’s dedication to delivering quality technical and vocational education.
The accreditation spans a wide range of disciplines across four major schools within the institution. Notably, the School of Engineering now offers National Diploma (ND) programmes in Computer Science, Computer Engineering Technology, and Electrical/Electronic Engineering.
In the School of Health Sciences, the NBTE accredited several ND programmes, including Public Health Technology, Science Laboratory Technology, Orthopaedic Cast Technology, Pharmaceutical Technology, Nutrition and Dietetics, Dispensing Opticianry, Animal Health and Production Technology, and Environmental Science and Management Technology.
The School of Social and Management Sciences also received accreditation for its ND programmes in Office Technology and Management, Business Administration and Management, Microfinance and Entrepreneurship Development, and Accounting.
Additionally, the School of Environmental Studies saw its ND programmes in Quantity Surveying and Estate Management and Evaluation accredited.
The Rector of Federal Polytechnic Kabo, Professor Mohammed Sanusi Magaji, expressed his gratitude to the NBTE, highlighting that this accreditation reflects the institution’s commitment to maintaining high educational standards and producing graduates capable of contributing to the socio-economic development of Kano State and the nation at large.
Professor Magaji emphasized that this achievement is a testament to the dedication of the Polytechnic’s staff and the ongoing support from the government and stakeholders. He assured students, parents, and the public that Federal Polytechnic Kabo remains committed to excellence in all its academic endeavors.
Remarkably, this is the first time in the history of Nigerian polytechnics that an institution has had 17 programmes accredited at its inception.
