Coalition of Civil Society in Sokoto, under the aegis of Sokoto Youth for Progressive Movement (SYPM) is deeply concerned about recent developments involving foreign interference in Nigeria’s internal affairs.
SYPM recalls that during the just concluded national protest, foreign flags were prominently displayed, raising serious concerns about attempts by foreign entities to destabilize our nation like they did for Libya, Sudan and others.
The groups strongly condemn any form of external interference that undermines Nigeria’s sovereignty and the democratic rights of its citizens.
Statement issued by Mustapha Buda Coordinator, Youth for Progressive Movement (SYPM),also noted that the display of foreign flags during a domestic protest and arrest of foreign nationals by the security agencies confirm our fears.
“This is not only disrespectful but also indicative of a larger, troubling trend of foreign actors seeking to manipulate and destabilize our nation for their selfish agendas”.
The Coalition urgently calls upon the Federal Government of Nigeria to take decisive action by identifying and prosecute those foreign individuals and organizations found to be involved in these destabilizing activities.
While emphasized that it is crucial to frown at the activities of foreign government and hold foreign agents accountable, particularly those who are actively working against Nigeria’s stability and sovereignty.
“Formally address this issue with the governments of the countries whose nationals were involved in Nigeria’s internal affairs.
“It is essential to send a clear message to the international community that Nigeria will not tolerate foreign interference in its internal affairs.
“Enhanced security measures to prevent similar incidents in the future by engaging in rigorous monitoring and regulation of foreign entities operating within our borders to ensure they respect Nigerian laws and values.
“The SYPM believe that Nigeria is a sovereign nation with the right to manage its own affairs without external pressure or interference.
“The recent protest demonstrated the strength and unity of our people, and it is imperative that we protect this democratic spirit from being undermined by foreign influences.
“The SYPM, stand firm in our commitment to a stable, secure, and self-determined Nigeria and urge all citizens and leaders to remain vigilant and united in the face of any attempts to disrupt our national integrity.”
