Boypee Denies Removing ‘Ogechi Remix’ Video Over ‘Davido’s Greed

Nigerian singer Boypee has refuted claims that he and his collaborators removed the video for their hit song “Ogechi Remix,” which features Davido, due to a dispute over royalties.

Recently, the video was taken down from YouTube due to copyright issues. The song, performed live at Davido’s wedding to Chioma on June 25, 2024, quickly gained popularity following its official release on July 19, 2024. However, the video was removed from YouTube, with the platform citing a copyright claim. It was noted that Davido is not listed as the official artist for the song on YouTube.

A trending video online suggests that the original version of “Ogechi” was created by another artist before the remix. There has been no official statement from Davido or the other involved artists about the video’s removal.

Recently, a social media user with the handle @Johnnyescoba shared a report claiming that Boypee alleged Davido wanted to claim all the royalties from the views, which supposedly led to the video’s removal. Boypee has since denied these allegations.

“‘We had to take down the Ogechi Remix video cuz Davido wanted to take all the royalties.’

“- Boypee in a recent interview” the user wrote.

Boypee in reaction, refuted this claim, questioning the source of the information and the motivations behind it.

Quoting the post, he wrote:

“You and who talk that one ? To what profit eh guy? Wetin you wan use

my downfall do?”
