Two Chinese Nationals Abducted in Ogun State

Two Chinese expatriates, Chen Wenguang and Liang Ding, were kidnapped on Sunday in the Kémta/Abule-Owu area along Onigbedu Road in Ogun State.

The abduction reportedly took place around 1:45 p.m. as the two men left their workplace to visit friends.

According to sources, Wenguang and Ding were employed by Good One Carton Company, which operates in the area. A police insider, who spoke on condition of anonymity, revealed that the duo ventured out on their own without informing the company or the security personnel assigned to protect them, including police and military forces.

“They mentioned to a few colleagues that they were heading to Kémta Village, about a kilometre away, to visit some friends,” the source disclosed.

Omolola Odutola, the spokesperson for the Ogun State Police Command, confirmed the incident on Monday. She reported that the kidnappers had contacted the company, demanding a ransom for the release of the two men.

“The company’s security supervisor received a call from one of the expatriates, who informed him that Wenguang and Ding had been kidnapped and that their captors were demanding a ransom,” Odutola stated.

In response, police operatives from the Ewekoro Division, alongside local vigilantes, military personnel, hunters, and other security groups, launched a thorough search of the Kémta Village forest. Despite their efforts, they were unable to locate the missing men.

Odutola assured that the authorities are continuing their efforts to secure the safe release of the abducted expatriates.
