Operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) of the Lagos State Police Command, acting on credible intelligence, have arrested 90 suspects during raids on notorious spots in Obalende, Adeniji, and Lagos Island.
The official X (formerly Twitter) handle of the Command confirmed the arrests, stating that the midnight operation involved teams combing these high-crime areas.
“The exercise was aimed at reducing criminal activities in the areas as the all-male suspects have been handed over to the Lagos State Environmental and Special Offences Unit (Taskforce),” the post said.
Consequently, the Commander of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS), CSP Shola Jejeloye, has directed the squad’s riders to extend their operations to the Lekki, Jakande Roundabout, and VGC areas of the state.
The RRS, in conjunction with the Lagos Neighbourhood Safety Agency (LNSA), had previously embarked on convoy patrols in various areas of the metropolis to reassure Lagosians of their safety and property security.
These convoy patrols aim to enhance visibility policing and ensure officers remain alert for emergencies. The exercise is scheduled to be held regularly to maintain readiness for action.
