The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Plateau State has resolved to participate in the upcoming local government council elections in the State slated for October, 2024.
According to a Press Statement issued on Monday in Jos by the party’s Acting Publicity Secretary Hon. Shittu Bamaiyi said decision was reached during an emergency meeting of the party held in Jos, which was attended by members of the State Working and Executive Committees, elected former local government council chairmen, party chairmen, and members of the Plateau State House of Assembly.
The Statement added that the meeting was presided over by the State Chairman, Hon. Rufus Bature, agreed that the party would participate in the elections provided the State Independent Electoral Commission (SIEC) ensures a level playing field and impartiality.
Bamaiyi noted that the party has adopted a democratic approach to conduct its primaries, aiming to avoid internal conflicts and resentment.
He disclosed that the sale of forms is scheduled to commence on Wednesday, 24th of July, 2024 , with realistic fees set considering the current economic challenges.
