Verydarkman Voices Reaction After Activism Award Loss to Tunde Onakoya

Controversial activist Verydarkman, also known as VDM, recently addressed his loss in the ‘Force of Social Good’ category at the Trendupp Awards to Chess Master Tunde Onakoya. Despite strong support from his fans, VDM was surpassed by Onakoya, renowned for founding Chess in the Slum and achieving a Guinness World Record for 58 hours of continuous chess.

VDM’s supporters expressed outrage, alleging unfairness, while critics took the opportunity to mock him. In response, Verydarkman released a video where he shrugged off the loss. He emphasized that his activism on social media is fueled by passion rather than a pursuit of awards.

In a defiant stance, VDM revealed he hadn’t even been aware of his nomination and cited his busy schedule with activism as a reason for not attending award ceremonies. His nonchalant response underscored his detachment from the controversy surrounding the outcome.

“Wetin I wan use award do? What do you people think we do here? Award night? People are going through pain, in prison, e.t.c, too many things to do and I go come carry myself dey look for award? What is my business? What am I using award to do?” he said partly.
