Adamawa State Police Command in conjunction with sister security agencies reiterate commitment towards ensuring conducive and enabling environment for the Adamawa State Local Government Chairmanship and Councillorship Elections on the 13/7/2024.
With this development , the Commissioner of Police, Dankombo Morris has engaged tactical meetings with various Security Commanders and made strategic arrangements and decisions to achieve the credible electoral process in the state.
According to a release signed the Command Spokesperson, SP Yahaya Ngurore, all Local security groups like Hunters, Vigilantes, Civilian JTF amongst others are restricted from carrying out election activities.
There will be restriction of vehicular movement from 0700hrs to 1700hrs of 13th July, 2024 except for those on essential services.
The release further advised that there will be no roaming about at polling units after voting, all voters are enjoined to go back to their respective homes after casting their votes and await the declaration of election results.
Similarly, there will be no carrying of Banners/ Posters of political parties on election day, the release added.
In furtherance of the above, the Commissioner of Police while demonstrating his preparedness towards a hitch free and credible elections, hereby directs for adequate deployment at polling units across the state.
He emphasized that there will be stop and search exercise to be intensified at entry and exit roads to avoid any distractions of whatever.
He tasks all police personnel and other law enforcement agencies deployed for this assignment to operate within the extant laws guiding the conduct of the election and respect the rule of Law.
Finally, the CP enjoys all citizens of the State to cooperate with security personnel and give timely information to the police to ensure successful conduct of the exercise. .
In addition, they are advised to discharge their civic responsibility of reporting to the Police people of suspicious Characters around their neighborhoods to the nearest Police stations for necessary action.
