The Police Service Commission (PSC) on Tuesday refuted reports that it is reviewing the list of successful candidates for the 2022 constable recruitment exercise.
The commission also clarified that it has never instructed candidates to print any updated invitation slips or proceed to the Police Training Colleges.
This marks the second time the PSC has issued a rebuttal on this matter amid an ongoing dispute with the police over the recruitment process.
The conflict between the two entities began 11 days after the PSC released the list of 10,000 successful applicants for constable and specialist cadre roles in the Nigeria Police Force on June 4.
The police had rejected the list, alleging that the recruitment exercise was tainted by corruption and irregularities. However, the PSC vowed not to cancel the list, prompting the Minister of Police Affairs, Ibrahim Gaidam, to intervene. The issue remains unresolved.
In a statement on Tuesday, the PSC’s Head of Press and Public Relations, Ikechukwu Ani, advised successful candidates to be patient and await an official statement regarding the concluded recruitment exercise.
“The commission wishes to clarify that it has at no time issued any statement on reviewing the list of successful candidates or inviting them to check their application on the newly launched portal,” Ani stated.
“The commission has not at any time advised candidates to print any updated invitation slip and proceed to the Police Training Colleges. It has also not announced any date for the training program, and the Monday, July 22, 2024, date circulating on social media is purely the imagination of impostors.
“The commission wishes to advise candidates to be patient and await its official statement on the just concluded recruitment exercise,” Ani added.
