Terrorists Renew Attacks in Abuja: One Resident Killed, Four Others Kidnapped

Terrorists launched an attack on Guto, Piyawe, and other communities in the Bwari Area Council of Abuja, resulting in the death of one person and the kidnapping of about four others. The incident occurred on Sunday morning when over 30 suspected kidnappers infiltrated the area council.

Residents reported that the assailants surrounded the communities, fired shots indiscriminately, and forcibly entered homes, causing widespread fear and panic. SP Josephine Adeh, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed the attack in the Guto community.

She, however, said operatives of the command in collaboration with officers of the Department of State Services, DSS and hunters trailed the attackers and engaged them in a gun duel at Gauraka Forest, Niger State, bordering the FCT.

The PPRO noted that two of the kidnapped victims, Mart Ojadi, 15 years old, and Evelyn Chinaza, 12 years old were rescued by the security operatives.

She said the “kidnappers were overwhelmed by the operatives, forcing them to scamper to safety through the nearby bushes with varying degrees of bullet injuries, and the two kidnapped victims were rescued unhurt”.
