Former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand has declared that it is “written in the stars” for England to win Euro 2024. Ferdinand made this statement following the Three Lions’ dramatic comeback victory against Slovakia, which secured their spot in the quarter-finals.
Gareth Southgate’s team faced potential elimination after Ivan Schranz’s first-half goal put Slovakia in the lead. However, Jude Bellingham equalized with a stunning overhead kick in injury time, and Harry Kane completed the comeback with a goal in the first minute of extra time.
“There comes a time in a tournament when you actually start believing you’re going to win it and I think this was the moment. I really do,” Ferdinand said on his YouTube channel.
“They’re through to the quarter-finals, on the best side of the draw, it’s written in the stars. It’s written! We’re going to win it.
“Maybe I’m getting carried away but I don’t care, I don’t give a monkey. I’m getting carried away because I’m an England fan, I’m emotional and I love it.”
