Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State has highlighted the importance of peace in the economic development of any society.
The Governor while fielding questions from reporters in Lagos state, after receiving an illustrious son award that his administration is determined to ensure that peace reign in the state.
The governor who was honoured in Lagos along 36 illustrious sons of Africa at an event held in Lagos said there has been relative peace in Kaduna State in the last one year.
Aside, the Governor is said to have streamline the excesses of governance by removing unwanted expenses.
Recalled that the governor had in May 2024, said his administration would take concrete measures to punish “promoters of conflict” in the state.
Represented by the Deputy Chief of Staff, Barrister James Kanyip, the Governor at the event acknowledged the award as a sign to do more.
“This is an award for the people of Kaduna, a motivation to do more, and I do not take it for granted.”
Also speaking at the event, the organizer, Ralph Chidozie, explained that the Kaduna State Governor emerged the Best Governor of the Year following the difference peace moves he had made to reconcile warring factions in the state.
“You would have notice that there now relative peace in Kaduna compared to the days of the previous administration. Aside, the Governor has been doing great in infrastructure and other areas, and he came highly recommended. The killings are not as frequent as they were on a daily basis in the last administration.”
Other awardees included Dr. Kesington Adebukunola Adebutu as Distinguished Philanthropist of the Year, Chief Dele Momodu, Mr. Emeka Adebowale Onyeokoro as Oil Consultant of the Year, Hon. Ikoro Kingsley Ogbonna, Deputy Leader of Ebonyi State House of Assembly as State Legislator of the Year, Mrs. Bolanle Austen-Peters as Businesswoman of the Year, Senator Natasha H. Akpoti-Uduaghan as Distinguished Senator of the Year, Tomas Fernandez Garcie, an Economic and Commercial Counselor of Spain in Nigeria, for Award of Excellence & Special Recognition, Dr. Kolade Ayodeji Segun-Okeowo for Award of Excellence and Special Recognition, Dr. Kenneth Okonkwo, Alhaji Abubarka Sanusi Yakubu, and many others.
