The mother of actress Angel Unigwe has filed a lawsuit against veteran actor Kanayo O. Kanayo, accusing him of breach of contract and defamation.
This action follows Kanayo’s social media criticism of Angel Unigwe on June 21, 2024, where he accused her of not fulfilling a production contract agreed upon with him. He also claimed that Unigwe’s mother has a history of breaching contracts by prematurely removing her daughter from film sets.
Kanayo further threatened to sabotage any future film projects involving the young actress.
In response, Juliet Kings Unigwe, Angel’s mother, issued a press statement on the actress’s Instagram page, denouncing the allegations as false and malicious, and confirming that legal measures are being taken to resolve the matter.
“First, for the public records we wish to state categorically that we hold sacred the terms of any contract we enter into and we are fully committed to performing all lawful obligations required of us under such contracts.
“We vehemently deny the false accusations and slanderous statements contained in Mr. Kanayo’s video. We want to assure the public that we have done no such thing and are deeply hurt by these unfounded allegations.”
