Trabzonspor President Ertuğrul Doğan confirms talks with Southampton over extending Paul Onuachu’s loan for another season.
Onuachu, who played on loan from Southampton last season, contributed to 19 goals in 21 league games, aiding Trabzonspor’s qualification for the UEFA Europa League.
Although the 30-year-old desires to stay, Southampton prefers a permanent transfer rather than another loan deal.
Dogan revealed they are in talks with Southampton to sort out the deal.
“Paul Onuachu conveyed that he wanted to stay on our team in the meeting he had with us and our coach,” Dogan was quoted by 61Saat.
“The player also conveyed this request to his own club. We want to loan him and the talks are ongoing. We also have alternatives regarding the centre forward.
“It is not that we will only buy one centre forward, maybe we will buy two. We want to add Onuachu to our squad on loan again. This transfer seems like it will take a while.”
