The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) said it has perfected plans to remove all artisans and traders from all road corridors and relocate them to the permanent site designed for all informal sectors at Wasa District.
This, it said was part of measures towards sanitising the city and aligning all developments to the master plan of the city.
Coordinator, Abuja Metropolitan Management Council ( AMMC) Chief Felix Obuah who disclosed this during a meeting with over 50 Apo Traders and Artisans Associations, said the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike has given approval for the allocation of land to the Traders and Artisans.
He stated that apart from those affected by the ongoing road construction along Apo district axis corridors.
Obuah disclosed that mechanic workshops, furniture makers and dealers, petty traders can no longer be allowed in an unapproved places in Abuja.
Obuah noted that the delay in the relocation was due to the contention between several unions among the Apo traders and artisans.
According to him, the confusion and contention have lingered over 15 years, but the Minister has resolved it and is committed to the welfare of all residents.
