11 Southern Governors Gather in Ogun for Meeting

No fewer than ten governors have arrived in Abeokuta, Ogun State, for the Southern Governors’ Forum meeting at the Presidential Lodge, Ibara Housing.

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos, Chairman of the Southwest Governors’ Forum, was among the first to arrive and was welcomed by the host Governor, Dapo Abiodun.

Other governors in attendance include Seyi Makinde (Oyo), Biodun Oyebanji (Ekiti), Alex Otti (Abia), Godwin Obaseki (Edo), Ademola Adeleke (Osun), and Bassey Otu (Cross River). Deputy Governors Chinyere Ekomaru (Imo), Monday Onyeme (Delta), and Olayide Adelami (Ondo) are also present.

Governors from all 17 southern states are expected. This is the first meeting since the death of former forum chairman, Rotimi Akeredolu, Governor of Ondo State, in December 2023. The forum has yet to elect a new chairman. The meeting’s agenda has not been disclosed.
