Shehu Sani Urges Sokoto Governor: Protect Sultanate from Kano Emirate Virus

Former Senator Shehu Sani, who represented Kaduna Central Senatorial District, urged Governor Ahmad Aliyu of Sokoto State to prevent the conflicts that affected the Kano emirate from spreading to the Sultanate.

Sani’s remarks came amid alleged rumors of a rift between the Sultanate and the Governor of Kano State. The Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) had claimed that Governor Aliyu was considering the removal of the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, which added to the tension following the deposition of some monarchs in Kano State.

However, in his statement on Monday, Sani emphasized that the Sultanate belongs not only to the people of Sokoto State but also involves numerous stakeholders.

“Even though it’s a subject of speculation or conjecture, I appeal to the Governor of Sokoto State not to allow the viruses that infected the Kano emirate to infect the Sultanate.

“That Sultanate doesn’t belong to the people of Sokoto alone. We are stakeholders,” he said.
