Sokoto Gov  Approves N30,000 for Workers Ahead of Eid-el-Kabir

As Muslim faithful across the globe prepare for the forthcoming Eid-el-Kabir amidst rising costs, Sokoto State Governor Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto has approved a special Sallah largesse of N30,000 for all state workers.

In a press statement released on Wednesday by Chief Press Secretary Abubakar Bawa, the governor also announced N20,000 for all pensioners and those receiving allowances from the state government.

“The payment, which begins on Thursday, aims to ensure civil servants in Sokoto State can celebrate Eid-el-Kabir with ease,” Bawa said.

Earlier this week, Governor Aliyu had approved the early payment of June salaries on Monday, June 10, for all state and local government workers.

“The Executive Governor of Sokoto State, Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto, has graciously approved the payment of Sallah gifts (Goron Sallah) to all state and local government workers, pensioners, and those receiving allowances under the Local Governments and the Primary Health Care Development Agency,” the statement read.

The payment categories are as follows: state and local government workers will receive N30,000 each, while pensioners and those receiving allowances from the local governments and Primary Health Care Agency will receive N20,000 each.

“This magnanimous gesture, commencing on Thursday, June 13, is aimed at ensuring that civil servants observe this year’s Eid-el-Kabir with relative ease,” Bawa added.

The statement also noted that the governor has approved the release of cash allocations for June to all MDAs in the state.

“It could be recalled that barely three days ago, Governor Aliyu directed the payment of June salaries to all civil servants in the state, all in an attempt to make workers financially stable before and during the Sallah festivities.”

Currently on pilgrimage in the holy land, Governor Aliyu urged state workers to reciprocate his good gesture by being dedicated and punctual at work. He also prayed for hitch-free Sallah celebrations in Sokoto, Nigeria, and worldwide.
