Imo woman allegedly kills partner over sharing of fraud proceed

A 27-year-old woman, Oluchi Nzemechi, from Uzoagba in Ikeduru Local Government Area of Imo State, has been arrested by the state police for allegedly stabbing her partner, Kelechi Nzemechi, to death over a dispute about the sharing of proceeds from internet fraud.

The police reported that Oluchi admitted during interrogation that her 31-year-old lover had involved her in internet fraud, commonly known as ‘Yahoo-Yahoo.’

She confessed that a heated argument erupted on Sunday when Kelechi refused to give her a share of an alleged 250 million Rupiah they had swindled from a victim in Indonesia. In the heat of the quarrel, Oluchi claimed she stabbed him with a kitchen knife in the upper body.

In an attempt to cover up the crime, she left a note on the deceased’s body that read, “You think you can eat my money and go free. I am baba for the boys. I am coming for your wife and your child, including your family,” before fleeing the scene.

Oluchi, who had been living with the victim since 2019 and has a child with him, was paraded by the police and confessed to the crime.

The Public Relations Officer of the command, ASP Henry Okoye, stated that the suspect would be charged after the investigation was completed. He also mentioned that efforts are underway to recover the alleged 250 million Rupiah for a possible return to the rightful owner.
