Troops neutralize five bandits in Kaduna, seize arms and ammunition

Troops and Special Forces from Operation Whirl Punch (OPWP) have conducted special fighting patrols in the Kachia-Kajuru axis and neutralized five bandits in the general area of Dantarau in Kajuru LGA.

Samuel Aruwan, the Commissioner of Internal Security and Home Affairs for the state, disclosed in a statement on Sunday, June 9, 2024, that the troops undertook operations to clear the Maro-Enugu axis spanning Kachia and Kajuru LGAs.

During an encounter with bandits in the Dantarau community, the troops neutralized five criminals after a fierce exchange. Additionally, they recovered two AK-47 rifles, one locally fabricated sub-machine gun, nine AK-47 magazines, 250 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, two motorcycles, and two handheld radio sets.

Furthermore, the Air Component of Operation Whirl Punch successfully targeted bandit camps in the Sabon Birnin Daji general area of Igabi LGA. Credible human intelligence sources confirmed the success of the operation, resulting in the elimination of several bandits. Some bandits sustained injuries and are reported to be in need of medical support in the general area.

Locals in the area are warned against providing medical support to questionable individuals without involving the nearest security agencies. Citizens are advised to report any information to the 24-hour Operations Room at the following numbers: 09034000060, 08170189999.

Upon receiving the feedback, the Governor of Kaduna State, Senator Uba Sani, expressed delight at the breakthrough and praised the troops, led by Major General MLD Saraso, the General Officer Commanding, 1 Division Nigerian Army, for their determined efforts. The Governor also commended the Air Officer Commanding, Air Training Command, Air Vice Marshall NN Ananaba, and his team for their outstanding contribution to the security of the state.

The Governor urged the military to sustain the momentum of operations.
