Former CAF Player of the Year Victor Ikpeba, known as ‘The Prince of Monaco,’ has arrived in Uyo to lend his full support to new Super Eagles coach Finidi George ahead of tomorrow’s crucial 2026 World Cup qualifier against South Africa.
Both Ikpeba and George were key members of the Super Eagles’ ‘Golden Generation’ in the 1990s.
“The games against South Africa and Benin are very important for Nigeria, and we must all come together to support Finidi and the team to win both games,” said Ikpeba, who is also a long-serving member of the NFF technical committee.
“Unfortunately, we did not start well in the qualifiers after drawing our first two games. Given that we missed out on the last World Cup in Qatar, we as a nation cannot afford to miss the next World Cup. We have the quality to get the job done, and we must do so.”
The showdown against South Africa is set to kick off at 8 p.m. at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo.
