Adamawa State police authorities have detained two individuals believed to be involved in armed robbery activities along the Numan-Lafiya road, linking Adamawa and Gombe states. The arrests come following ongoing terrorizing of motorists by a group of five men along the route.
The two suspects, identified as Bello Siddiki, aged 31, and Hammadu Saidu, aged 25, both residents of Sabewa Borrong in Demsa Local Government Area of Adamawa State, were apprehended as a result of a thorough investigation directed by the state’s Police Commissioner.
A statement issued by the Adamawa State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, Suleiman Nguroje, highlighted the suspects’ involvement in multiple attacks on motorists, including the recent robbery of a Sienna Bus traveling from Abuja to Yola. During the incident, passengers, including one Hassan Kwaji, were assaulted and robbed of their mobile phones and other belongings.
The statement listed items recovered from the suspects as two machetes, a knife, a handset, and a SIM card believed to have been used in commission of crimes.
“The suspects will be charged to court to face the full consequences of their actions,” the Police assured.
