Gunmen attack travelers, abduct four in Ondo Community

Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers have reportedly attacked an 18-seat bus traveling along Irun/ Imesi-Ekiti in the Akoko Northwest local government area of Ondo State.

The incident, sources said occurred on Saturday between around 6 pm. At the end of the operation, four of the travelers were abducted by the suspected kidnappers.

Sources in the town said the victims kidnapped were indigenes of Irun Akoko, neighbouring Ikare- Akoko, in Akoko Northeast and Ekiti communities.

It was also gathered that Soldiers and Amotekun Corps from Ekiti and Ondo state with the cooperation of  Local Vigilantes are currently combing the forests to rescue the victims.

Confirming the incident, the Commander of the state security network codename Amotekun, Chief Adetunji Adeleye said security agencies were working towards securing the release of the victims.

Adeleye in his reaction said “My men and soldiers from Ekiti are combing the forest but the hoodlums did not kidnap the 18 passengers on the bus.

“Some of the passengers escaped themselves, while our men with soldiers recovered some of the victims in the night. Our men have combed the forest as we speak.”
