The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has commenced a 2-day public inquiry to review three key regulatory instruments: telecommunications networks interconnect regulations, guidelines for approving the disconnection of telecommunications operators, and dispute resolution procedures.
Aminu Maida, the Executive Vice Chairman of the commission, announced this in Abuja, emphasizing that the consultative forum seeks to gather input from industry stakeholders to ensure inclusivity in developing regulatory instruments.
Maida stated, “The first regulatory instrument on our agenda is the Telecommunications Networks Interconnect Regulations. Interconnection is essential for seamless communication between different networks and for the growth of Nigeria’s communications industry.”
“This review is crucial to keep pace with technological advancements, foster competition, protect consumer interests, align with international standards, and improve regulatory efficiency in the industry.”
“The second instrument under review is the Guidelines on Procedure for Granting Approval to Disconnect Telecommunications Operators.”
