Police in Niger State have apprehended two individuals engaged in ATM card swapping in Bida.
The suspects, originally from Masaka in Nasarawa State, were discovered in possession of 42 stolen ATM cards.
According to a statement released by SP Wasiu Abiodun, spokesperson for the Niger State Police Command, the suspects alleged that they were traveling to Offa for a burial ceremony but made a stopover in Bida.
Abiodun explained that during the stopover, the suspects perpetrated fraudulent activities by pilfering ATM cards from unsuspecting victims.
The statement reads, “Two suspects arrested in Bida for ATM cards swapping/42 cards recovered.
“The suspects came from Masaka, Nasarawa State and claimed that they were heading to Offa for a burial.
“They decided to stop over at Bida to steal victim’s cards for fraud.”
