Xavi’s future at Barcelona has been thrust into doubt yet again ahead of tonight’s La Liga clash with Almeria.
Reporter Achraf Ben Ayad has posted an update on social media which suggests Xavi could be heading for the exit door after all this summer.
“Xavi’s continuation is no longer 100% guaranteed The coming days will be very decisive. This is the situation at the moment,” he wrote on X.
Other reports are suggesting that Xavi has angered Joan Laporta and the Barcelona board by his comments in yesterday’s press conference.
Xavi spoke about how the club’s financial situation was hindering their chances of success, something that did not go down well.
“Now we are not in the same conditions with clubs with better fair play. The fans should know. It doesn’t mean that we don’t try to achieve the goals,” he said.
Laporta hasn’t travelled with the squad to Almeria and is said to be fairly furious with Xavi’s words. There are also claims that Xavi’s camp are urging him not to continue.
Once again, another almighty mess seems to be brewing at Barcelona.
