Sokoto hospital resumes knee, spinal and hip surgeries – Commissioner

The Sokoto State Orthopaedic hospital Wamakko has re introduced Knee, spinal and hip replacement surgeries (Osteoarthritis).

This followed the suspension of the surgeries in the hospital in 2016 by the immediate past administration in the state.

Commenting shortly after monitoring the surgical operations at the hospital, the state commissioner for health Hajiya Asabe Balarabe said the surgeries were re introduced by the present administration of Dr Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto in order to assist citizens of the state that are suffering from such ailments.

The commissioner commended the team of surgeons for their commitment to improving the conditions of orthopaedic patients and urged people with similar cases to report to the hospital for medical attention as surgeries at the hospital are cheaper.

Also commenting, the Cheif Medical Director of the Hospital,Dr. Abdulkadir Jelani Mu’azu said orthopaedic surgeons from Secondary and tertiary health institutions are on ground at the hospital to carry out surgical operations on the patients after documentation and diagnosis.

The CMD expressed their readiness to carry out successful operations on the documented patients.

Dr. Mu’azu commended the state government through the ministry of health for its support to the hospital which further enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of its personal.
