The police are delving deeper into the circumstances surrounding the demise of the late singer, Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad. An investigation has been underway, particularly focusing on the illegal embalming of the deceased’s body post-mortem.
Reports from PUNCH Metro revealed that Boluwatife Adeyemo, also known as Darosha and the late Mohbad’s Personal Assistant, underwent questioning at the Zone 2 Police Headquarters. Present during the interrogation were Mohbad’s father, Joseph, and mother, Abosede.
Following Darosha’s interrogation, the police extended invitations to all individuals mentioned in his statement for further questioning.
In a statement by the head of the family’s legal team, Monisola Odumosu, it was disclosed that a subsequent interrogation session took place at the Zone 2 Police Headquarters in Lagos State. The police are diligently working towards uncovering the identity of the individual responsible for the illegal embalming.
“The police have assured that they will soon disclose the identity of the individual who unlawfully embalmed the late singer, Ilerioluwa Aloba, widely known as Mohbad. Their investigation will continue, and findings will be forwarded to the Legal Department of the force for further action,” Odumosu stated.
Present at the meeting were various family members and associates, including Mohbad’s father, wife, and legal representatives.
Prior to this, the family’s legal team had petitioned the police, alleging that Boluwatife Adeyemo, Mohbad’s personal assistant, had engaged in the unlawful embalming of the deceased’s body, contravening specific sections of the Coroner’s System Law, 2007.
Following Darosha’s interrogation, the police have initiated further inquiries into all individuals implicated in his statement.
The controversy arose shortly after Mohbad’s death when his cousin, Darosha, shared details on social media regarding the embalming process he had undertaken without regard to established laws.
The family’s legal representatives emphasized their anticipation of the police report, which would guide further legal proceedings and potential prosecutions.
Mohbad’s father expressed his shock upon discovering his son’s embalmed body upon arrival at the deceased’s residence on the day of his demise. He has urged the police to intensify their investigation to uncover the truth behind his son’s untimely passing.
Mohbad’s death, occurring on September 12 at the age of 27, stirred significant controversy on social media. A former signee of Marlian Music owned by Naira Marley, Mohbad left the label in February 2022.
In response to the public outcry, the Lagos State Police Command established a special investigation team to probe the circumstances surrounding Mohbad’s death, leading to the subsequent arrest of several individuals, including Naira Marley and Balogun Eletu.
The late singer’s body was exhumed on September 21, 2023, for an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
In September 2023, the Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the conclusion of the autopsy and indicated that the police were awaiting the results. Additionally, we reported exclusively that the toxicology test conducted as part of the investigation had been finalized and submitted for analysis.
