Zamfara Assembly approves six-month extension for LG Sole Administrators

The Zamfara State House of Assembly has granted a six-month extension to the tenure of sole administrators for the local government councils in the state.

This decision came after the presentation of a report by the special committee tasked with screening the fourteen sole administrators of the local government councils. The committee, chaired by Deputy Speaker Hon. Adamu Aliyu Gummi, recommended their confirmation before the House.

The announcement was made in a statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary to the House, Comrade Bello Madaro Kurya, and circulated to journalists in Gusau, the state capital. The statement confirmed that all fourteen interim administrators of the local government councils appeared before the committee during the screening process.

It is worth noting that on April 24, 2024, Governor Dauda Lawal conveyed a message through the Secretary to the State Government, Malam Abubakar M Nakwada, urging the House to confirm the local government interim administrators for an additional six months following the law.

“That necessitated the House under the Speakership of Rt. Hon. Bi’yaminu Ismail Moriki to invite all the Council Interim Administrators for cross-examination to ensure justice and fairness in the confirmation process,” the statement added.
