Senate Chairman: NYSC Trust Fund Bill Catalyst for Graduate Employment

Yemi Adaramodu, the chairman of the Senate Committee on Youth and Community Engagement representing APC, Ekiti South, expressed that the recently approved National Youth Service Corps Trust Fund Bill is poised to create employment opportunities for graduates.

Adaramodu made these remarks during an official visit with the committee to the Oyo State NYSC Orientation Camp at Iseyin on Saturday.

He mentioned that the bill, having successfully navigated initial readings and other legislative procedures, is on track to be forwarded to the President for final approval.

The lawmaker emphasized that the bill’s primary objective is to ensure the establishment of corps members through the skill training provided by the NYSC Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) program.

Furthermore, he highlighted that the bill’s provisions extend support to corps members interested in entrepreneurship ventures post-service.

“The issue of unemployment and what next for corps members after the service year will be a thing of the past soon. The bill will ensure that the dreams of every Nigerian graduate become a reality,” he said.

Adaramodu also revealed plans for the Senate to collaborate with relevant governmental bodies, agencies, and stakeholders to initiate an upward revision of corps members’ allowances.
