JUST IN: Gunmen kill Aiyedatiwa’s campaign coordinator

The Supare community in Akoko South West Local Government Area of Ondo State was thrown into mourning following the tragic death of Alaba Abbey, the campaign coordinator for Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa.

Alaba Abbey was fatally shot on Saturday evening at his residence in Supare, shocking residents and political observers alike.

Abbey played a pivotal role as the Returning Officer for the recently concluded All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship primary election in Ondo State. Additionally, he served as the ward coordinator for the Lucky Aiyedatiwa Campaign Organization Foot-Soldiers (LACO-SF) in Ward 10, demonstrating his unwavering commitment to the political cause.

Samuel Abbey, the elder brother of the deceased, recounted the tragic events, stating that the assailants ambushed Alaba Abbey shortly after his return home at around 9 pm.

The senseless act of violence occurred while Abbey was relaxing in front of his house, leaving the community in shock and disbelief.

The Lucky Aiyedatiwa Campaign Organization Foot Soldiers Independent Council (LACO-FSIC)-SF has vehemently condemned the brutal murder of one of its members, calling on security agencies to prioritize the protection of its members across the state. Kayode Fasua, the information director of the organization, emphasized that Alaba Abbey was actively engaged in campaigning for Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa until his tragic and untimely demise.

He said: “Excel had been a resourceful coordinator for the Aiyedatiwa campaign organisation in Ward 10 of Supare and was never known to be violent and never had any history of a local or domestic dispute.

“We urge the police authorities to step up investigations into his gruesome murder and bring the perpetrators of the dastardly act to book.”
